In 1986, a high-ranking South Korean diplomat was kidnapped by a militant group in Beirut. Two years later, the kidnappers contact the South Korean Foreign Ministry and demand a ransom of $5 million. The year is 1988 and, ahead of the upcoming Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea wants its diplomat back. The Foreign Ministry agrees to the terms, but a question arises: How do you deliver $5 million in cash to a militia group amid the chaos of civil war? Lee Min-jun, a young and ambitious diplomat, takes on the mission. But rumours spread quickly in Beirut and soon everyone - from army commanders to local warlords - knows that a Korean is on his way to the city with a big bag full of money.
